The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is already the fastest-selling Zelda game ever. Tears of the Kingdom was one of the most anticipated games for 2023, as it is a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild. Due to that, the expectations were high for this particular title, and Nintendo exceeded those expectations.
With that in mind, there are many who are making the jump and playing Tears of the Kingdom. Tears of the Kingdom is an open-world game, and there are a lot of mechanics in this game that players should know about. One of the most important mechanics you need to know about is cooking. Here, we will explain how cooking works in Tears of the Kingdom.
How To Cook In Tears Of The Kingdom
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can actually be a difficult game. This is especially true if you are not as prepared as possible to take on what the game is going to throw at you. Cooking is one of the best ways to prepare to take on all of the challenges the game will send your way.
To cook, you will want to first find a bonfire with a pot over it. These are scattered all over the map, and you can also find them in towns as well. Then you will need to go to your inventory and find your ingredients. Choose your ingredients and have Link hold them. You can hold up to 5 ingredients. Exit the menu, and Link should hold all of the ingredients you selected. Walk up to the pot, press the A button, and you will cook all of your ingredients together to make a meal.
Regular bonfires can be used for cooking as well. You can throw ingredients, like apples, into a normal bonfire, and it will become a baked apple. Other ingredients will become roasted or baked by doing this. Note that bonfire roasting is less effective than regular cooking in Tears of the Kingdom, but it is still better than eating raw ingredients.
General Guidelines For Cooking In Tears Of The Kingdom
In Tears of the Kingdom, you can cook together nearly any item that you find. But if you want effective meals, there are some guidelines you should follow. In general, you can only have one effect per meal. So you cannot have a meal that gives you both heat and cold resistance. So focus on one ingredient that gives you a status effect, pair it with spices to give you more heart recovery, and then give it a base like meat.
You can cook more than just food as well. Players can also cook up potions in Tears of the Kingdom as well. What you will need to do is to find critters that give status effects and cook them with monster parts. An example of this is making an Energizing Elixer, a potion that gives you more stamina, which needs a Restless Cricket and a monster part to be created. Note that the potion will get better with the number of effect critters you use and the quality of the monster parts you use. The same applies to cooking meals.
