After completing four Shrines on Great Sky Island, unlocking the Temple of Time, and, eventually, fast travel, players will finally descend to the surface and locate their first village. Lookout Landing will serve as your primary location for the next set of Story Quests, and this is where you can begin looking for the best early-game armor: the Hylian Armor set.
This armor returns from Breath of the Wild as, once equipped; it can slightly boost Link’s stats which can help when exploring the surrounding areas. As for where to begin acquiring this legendary set, we've detailed in this guide how to get the Hylian Armor, the best early-game armor in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
How To Find The Hylian Armor Set In Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom
Players can begin tracking down this set as most of the armor pieces can be found at Lookout Landing, as the first few are at Mubs’ Armor shop, not far from the entrance to the village. You can acquire three armor pieces; however, they require Rupees, so if you need to get them faster, we've detailed a handful of ways in this Rupee farming guide.
For context, here are the armor pieces you can buy from Mubs and how much they’ll set you back for:
- Hylian Hood: 70 Rupees
- Hylian Tunic: 130 Rupees
- Hylian Trousers: 120 Rupees
Equipping each armor piece will increase Link’s defense stat by three, which can be extremely valuable when exploring off-the-beaten paths or completing a Story Quest or Side Quest. But to complete the look, you need the trusted Hylian Shield, which can be found not far from Lookout Landing as it can be found at the docks below Hyrule Castle.
The only way to access the docks is by using a boat, which can be crafted using the Ultrahand or Autobuild abilities, especially if you have the latter unlocked. You will also need a few additional items to best prepare for the journey, including a Torch or anything to create fire, a handful of Fuse materials for combat, Fused weapons, arrows, a sturdy bow, and anything to resist Gloom, like food and gear.
With all these items ready to go, navigate to the Hyrule Castle Moat on the western side, where you can find a pre-built boat on the shore, but it needs a few tweaks. Set sail to locate the dock entrance from this location, going to the northwest side of the moat and heading inside.
There will be a few enemies here, and if you wish to fight them, you come prepared with weapons and gear to survive the encounter. If not, keep running ahead, going up the staircase to an area filled with braziers; however, you need to light the large one in its center.
Once lit, a chest will spawn somewhere in this area, and opening it will grant you the legendary Hylian Shield. Make your way back to the surface by fast traveling out of the area to the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower if you have activated it before setting out to find the Hylian Shield.
