Heroes of Azeroth should Join The War Within Beta Launch Test

Attention, heroes of Azeroth; this is your call to arms! We think you should join The War Within's beta launch test to help Blizzard simulate the expansion's full launch and hopefully avoid that painful server downtime on 22 August (Early Access) or 26 August (official release).

The developers have announced that they are running a The War Within beta launch test for one day and just for a few hours.

The test takes place on 15 August 2024 at 1:30 p.m. PDT (4:30 p.m. EDT, 22:30 CEST). If everything goes well, Blizzard aims to end the test a few hours later at roughly 3:30 p.m. PDT (6:30 p.m. EDT, 00:30 CEST) and return other test realms to service thereafter.

At 13:30 PDT, only the "Launch Test" realm will be available on the PTR list. Players must log on and copy their live character or use a fresh level 70 character template, then teleport to Dalaran.

At 14:00 PDT, a full expansion launch will be simulated, and all testers will receive a quest to start the expansion intro at the same time. Testers will then play through the expansion's intro to the first zone, the Isle of Dorn.

How To Join War Within Beta Launch Test 

Follow the quick steps below if you've never participated in a WoW PTR before.

• Log in to Blizzard Account Management.
• Select Games and Subscriptions.
• In the Starter Editions & Public Test Regions section, select Create PTR Account.
• Click the Create Account button.
• Open the Blizzard Battle.net App and select World of Warcraft from your Games list.
• In the selector above the Play button, change your Region / Account to Public Test Realm.
• Click Install to install the PTR client. This becomes a Play button when ready.
• Click Play to log in to the PTR, and select any of the available Test Servers.

In this case, the special realm you are looking for is "Launch Test."

You do need an active WoW subscription to participate in the test, but it does not appear like you need to have purchased the expansion already, with no indication given by the developers.
