The virtual gates to Azeroth opened on 14 November 2004, which means World of Warcraft (WoW) turns 20 years old on 14 November 2024. I'm feeling old yet? Because I certainly am! There's a huge 20th Anniversary Celebration planned for WoW players, and it's starting sooner than you might think.

Join us, heroes of Azeroth, as we detail the precise start and end dates for the WoW 20th Anniversary Celebrations, alongside an overview of the content you can expect to participate in for months.

The good news is, there's no need to rush through the 20th Anniversary Celebration activities, as WoW players have more than two months to enjoy them all.

The WoW 20th Anniversary Celebration event starts on 22 October 2024 and will end on 6 January 2025! Now, let's get to the good part: all the content and how to begin your journey.

How To Begin 20th Anniversary Celebration Content

You must first have a character at level 10 or higher, which really all WoW players should have right now. Then, you'll automatically receive a quest called "Another Timely Invitation," where you should head to the Caverns of Time in Tanaris.

Speak to the NPC called Yllana to turn in the quest, and pick up your first WoW 20th Anniversary Celebration quests to get started. Just keep following the quest chain to unlock the new currency and a host of activities.

WoW 20th Anniversary Content Overview

WoW players can look forward to a tonne of content, including farming new Bronze Celebration Tokens, taking on the Blackrock Depths raid, getting transmogs for updated iconic Tier 2 sets, and Timewalk through the likes of Deadmines, Zul’Farrak, Dire Maul (east and west wings), and Stratholme’s living and undead dungeons, all to earn epic new rewards! You'll earn mounts, pets, and dozens of cosmetics along the way.

It is also the 30th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise. The original RTS, Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, was released on 15 November 1994!
