If you're a fan of retro platformers, you might be familiar with indie title The Messenger.
The game was launched back in 2018, and it still holds an "Overwhelmingly Positive" score on Steam(currently 95% out of 3,251 reviews are positive). It is praised for its dynamic gameplay, tight controls, beautifully crafted levels, and a story-rich world full of engaging characters, lighthearted humor, and intriguing plot lines.
Fast-forward today, and Sabotage has just revealed their newest project - Sea of Stars! It's a story-driven jRPG with turn-based combat, inspired by the 90's classics.
"A prequel story set in The Messenger's universe, it tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fighting off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer," says in the description of the trailer.
Along with the reveal trailer, they've also launched a Kickstarter campaign, where you can find out more about the game. They say that their main goal is to "modernize the classic RPG in turn-based combat, storytelling, exploration, and interactions with the environment, while still offering a hearty slice of nostalgia and good old, simple fun."
Our opinion is that the game looks absolutely beautiful, and it seems that fans agree with us, since the game already reached its main goal on Kickstarter ($90,000) in just a few hours, and at the time of writing of this article, they are sitting at $100,000.
