When Will Expeditions Mudrunner Get Multiplayer & Co-Op?

Players have enjoyed a new off-roading adventure in Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game thanks to early access akin to their gameplay experiences in SnowRunner and Mudrunner. The game's global release on 5th March 2024 for PC and console will launch with abundant content and features, but players have wondered if they can play with friends in cooperative (co-op) mode.

Co-op mode has been featured in SnowRunner and Mudrunner alongside online multiplayer; however, will the game launch with a co-op mode present? Does Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game Have A Multiplayer & Co-Op Mode?

Ahead of Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game's global launch for PC and consoles, developer Saber Interactive has revealed several unique gameplay features, mechanics, and content that players can explore at launch. However, players have noticed one significant feature won't be available in-game at launch, which raised plenty of questions regarding its viability.

Players have asked the developer whether the game will support multiplayer or a cooperative (co-op) mode at launch. Unfortunately, the game does not feature a co-op mode when it launched on 5th March 2024 for PC and consoles; however, the developer has provided an update regarding this feature.

As explained in the game's Year Pass & Editions Trailer and the support FAQ page, it was revealed that the co-op mode would be added to the game post-launch; however, an official date has yet to be confirmed. This mode will be included in a free content update for Expeditions, which can be accessed by all players, regardless of which game edition is owned.

Co-op mode will support a maximum of four players, excluding three other players who can join them as they set forth exploring the vast yet barren environments, tackle the unique terrain, and adjust to the weather conditions. Players can complete research missions, set up a base campsite, scan and explore undiscovered locations, and share resources amongst themselves, which can help players navigate the open world.

However, unlike SnowRunner and Mudrunner, which actively support co-op and multiplayer modes, Expeditions too does not support online multiplayer at launch. As mentioned before regarding co-op mode, it's more than likely that multiplayer modes are likely to be added to the game in a future update.

For now, the game only has a single-player mode for players as the developer needs "a few extra months" to make this mode "feel as polished as possible." We will, as such, update this page once the developer has confirmed details on the upcoming co-op mode's release and the timeframe as to when they can expect multiplayer added to the game.
