G2 Valorant Invitational: schedule, format, teams, prize pool and how to watch

The Valorant Ignition Series 2020 is the first tentative steps in Valorant's push to become a top tier esport. Riot has partnered with 20 esport organisations around the world to host tournaments each slightly different from the last to begin building an esport structure and ecosystem that will sustain the game long into the future.

The first of these such events is the G2 x Red Bull Invitational which will see eight captains invited and their teams assigned to them - hardly the most competitive affair, however, the team lists that were put out today show some capable players including G2's own Oscar “Mixwell” Cañellas Colocho, the recently retired CS:GO pro, who has become G2's first Valorant team captain.

With $15,000 on the line, there is plenty to play for, never mind the prestige of being the first team to win a Riot backed tournament.

Of course, with COVID-19, the event will be played entirely online to run throughout the weekend starting with the Group A matches tomorrow, Friday, 19th June.

How to watch the G2 x Redbull Valorant Invitational

The first tournament of the Valorant Ignition Series will be streamed live on Twitch on the official G2 Esports channel, every player will also stream their POV on their channels, so if a game is being played off-stream you will still be able to catch all the action.

Spanish fans are also being given the opportunity to follow the final with Spanish commentary courtesy of Ibai.
