One Piece

One of the longest-running anime, One Piece, follows the adventures of the pirate captain Monkey D. Luffy. The world is filled with magical fruit called Devil Fruit that grants the eaters permanent powers. Luffy ate the fruit known as the Gum-Gum Fruit, granting him a body of rubber along with other powers.

There are only a few seasons of the show available on Netflix, but it’s a great way to get immersed in the show. This show is highly acclaimed and still generating new episodes.

Naruto

Naruto follows the protagonist, Naruto, who is a ninja student who goes through training, life-and-death fights, and wars between different villages. These ninjas use chakra to give them special abilities and cast spell-like attacks to defeat their opponents.

Naruto is world-renowned and ran for years and had several spinoff series.

Kill la Kill

All of Kill la Kill is available on Netflix, and it’s worth the watch. This show was released in 2013 and is about Ryuko Matoi, a transfer student with a scissor-like sword. 

Ryuko is on the search for her father’s killer, which brings her to the Honnouji Academy, where she faces an evil council who runs the academy.

7 Seeds

7 Seeds is an anime produced by Netflix that is set in a post-apocalyptic earth where new species of plants and animals have evolved. Five groups of young adults wake from cryogenic conditions where they find a hostile environment that they must survive.

Death Note

Notably one of the most highly acclaimed anime of all time, Death Note, is available on Netflix. This anime is about a young man named Light Yagami who finds a notebook called a Death Note dropped by a death god.

When Light writes a person’s name into the Death Note, that person is killed by the death god Ryuk. Light and Ryuk both believe that their worlds are rotten but go down a dark path in an attempt to cleanse them.

Cowboy Bebop

Following the adventures of a bounty hunting group in space, Cowboy Bebop is an exciting thrill ride through the solar system. This is a short series with only 26 episodes. 

Cowboy Bebop is a much older series that was created back in 1998, but it still holds fast-paced action and a phenomenal story. The group fly from planet to planet on their ship, the Bebop, where they track down high-profile terrorists and criminals.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Another quintessential anime that fans should watch on Netflix is Neon Genesis Evangelion. Neon Genesis Evangelion is a violent, dark, and grisly series that explores the emotions of pilots of mechas called Evangelions.

These pilots and the Evangelions are the only ones preventing the enemies known as Angels who are trying to cause cataclysmic events on Earth. Science-fiction fans won’t want to miss out on this great series.

Attack on Titan

A very popular series on Netflix is Attack on Titan, although there are only the first two seasons currently available. Attack on Titan is for mature audiences only as the show is incredibly violent and gory.

The story is about a land that was invaded by titans who kill and eat people. The main character, Eren, joins a group that fights against the titans while learning that he has the power to turn into one of the titans.

Sword Art Online

All about players who are trapped in a virtual game where they must fight for their lives, Sword Art Online is great for any anime or gaming fan. Now, all the seasons of Sword Art Online can be viewed on Netflix.

This series dives into the emotions and connections of gamers inside virtual gaming; Kirito and his friends play through different games after they survive the game Sword Art Online. Sword Art Online Ordinal Scale is a movie that is available in the UK but not in the US.

Demon Slayer

Another great anime that fans aren’t going to want to miss is Demon Slayer. This story revolves around Tanjirou, his sister Nezuko, and his friends traveling around Japan during the Taisho-era slaying demons.

Tanjirou is searching for a cure for Nezuko, who was turned into a demon. They slay demons other than Nezuko with swords made of a special alloy after receiving special training from skilled demon slayers.
