One Piece fans exploded online following an official first look at a beloved character joining the live-action series in its upcoming second season. The series, which is currently in production in South Africa, debuted a behind-the-scenes (BTS) trailer of Season 2's table read, which finally gave us a sneak tease of Chopper, who'll be debuting in the live-action series.
This was revealed during Netflix's Geeked Week, where we got a look at Tony Tony Chopper (or Chopper), who'll be accompanying Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates in their next adventures on the small screen. This first look caused a frenzy online; however, it's not confirmed who'll be voicing the Straw Hats' doctor despite the recent casting announcements.
Chopper is ready to bring their medical expertise aboard The Going Merry as they're gearing up for their official live-action debut in One Piece Season 2. The official show's social media accounts (Twitter and Instagram) shared a new BTS clip of the Season 2 table reads, hosted by Monkey D. Luffy actor Iñaki Godoy, who provided audiences with a 'V.I.P. (very important pirate) tour."
Towards the end of the clip, Godoy looked surprised at the camera, saying, "Yo, guys, I can't believe who's here to make their debut in Season 2. Look at this!" cutting to Chopper, who exclaimed, "Oh my God. This is crazy!" before the clip ended.
One Piece fans have taken over social media and other digital platforms following Chopper's reveal. On Reddit, many have experienced how emotional they felt after the Chopper sneak reveal, as they anticipate seeing him in the show.
Additionally, fans are quite eager to see how Chopper will look in a live-action setting; one comment states that "they don't have to make Chopper look "realistic" enough, just make sure he fits into [the] One Piece world." While many have expressed their undying commitment to protect Chopper at all costs, they have been speculating as to who could voice the adorable character, as some have pointed to the anime's English dub voice actor, Brina Palencia, as a top contender as the second season is speculated to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2025.
