Acclaimed game developer CD Projekt Red (CDPR) recently released the highly anticipated free next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Unfortunately, while the new graphical and gameplay enhancements make it worth diving into Geralt of Rivia's final endeavor again, several issues are hampering several players' gaming experience.
From severe performance issues on PC to expansions being unavailable to access on consoles, The Witcher 3: Wild is currently brimming with problems. In a thread on the official website, CDPR highlighted four major issues reported which they are investigating, namely (i) game crashes on PC, (ii) Origin players being unable to update the game, (iii) Ray Tracing issues on Intel graphics cards, and (iv) expansions being unavailable for certain regions on PlayStation 5.
Accordingly, the developers also provided some suggestions. Regarding crashing issues in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CDPR recommends that players attempt to resolve the issue by updating their graphics drivers. "If the problem persists, please send us a report using a form available [on the website]," the developers added. For Ray Tracing issues, a temporary solution seems to be rolling back the game update on GOG and Steam.

CDPR also recommended that players with less powerful hardware use the game's DirectX 11 version instead of Direct X 12. "This version has no Ray Tracing support and lacks some of the general graphical improvements introduced in the free Next-Gen Update, therefore, the performance here may differ even if comparing with the same preset run on DirectX 12 Version," CDPR wrote.
The long-awaited next-gen update of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt finally arrived on 14th December 2022. Aside from the upgraded visuals and better performance, CDPR also added a new side quest called "In The Eternal Fire's Shadow," which, upon completion, unlocks Geralt's gear from the Netflix series.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now available on Windows PC, PlayStation 4|5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S gameplay platforms.
