Polish developer CD Projekt RED has finally released the next-gen update for its acclaimed RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, across multiple platforms. The free update includes "various visual, performance, and technical enhancements, as well as fixes and additional content" as we get to reminiscence or experience for the first time the intrigue of the famed Witcher, Geralt of Rivia.
Whether it's your fifth gameplay or first time playing, you can replay the entirety of The Witcher 3 with its New Game + mode. We've explained how this free game mode works and what can be carried over for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
How To Play New Game + In The Witcher 3
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's New Game + has much more to offer fellow monster hunters since the game's next-gen update launch. While developer CD Projekt RED has explained how you can acquire the free game mode, you need to learn how it works in-game.
To start The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's New Game +, the most crucial requirement is that you'll need to have completed the game, regardless of which ending you received. Additionally, you must have installed the free New Game + mode from your chosen gamefront store, or if you have the Game Of The Year Edition, it's included with the bundle.
The next step is that you must have saved The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, following the credits sequence, which you can navigate back to the game's Main Menu. Select the "New Game" option, choose your desired difficulty, and ensure you've selected the option to simulate The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings saves.
You'll be asked if you wish to start playing the New Game + mode, which you can enable and choose your last game save before beginning your next journey in the Continent. There are a few noticeable differences between playing the base version and the New Game +, as all monster and enemy levels will significantly increase depending on Geralt's level before starting New Game +.
What Can You Carry Over In The Witcher 3 New Game +
Much like the game's two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, you'll have access to plenty of new gear and equipment, but this requires you to obtain their diagrams. With the New Game +, there are various items you can carry over, aside from Geralt's endgame level, which we've listed for you below:
- Geralt's unlocked skills and abilities
- Geralt's non-quest Inventory items, such as consumables (food & drink), Oils, Potions, and Bombs
- Geralt's gear and equipment are stored in his Inventory, and stashed items
While his gear and equipment from the base version carry over, you will get stronger and more durable gear and equipment, so these items eventually become ineffective. Lastly, the gear and equipment belonging to the primary Witcher schools, Bear, Cat, Griffin, Manticore, Wolf, and Viper, will be upgraded to a "Legendary" status for the New Game + also increases their respective levels.
