Developed by Embark Studios, The Finals saw its Open Beta finish up on 7 November 2023, and this free-to-play arena shooter really hit the mark for millions of fans across the globe.
In fact, Embark Studios announced that the Open Beta saw over 7.5 million players enter the virtual arenas and demolish each other, leaving the developer "utterly dazzled" by the reception and player numbers they've received.
The Finals Open Beta Finished: Now What?
Dubbed as "the world's greatest free-to-play combat game show," The Finals has been a breakout success on PC and consoles during its Open Beta phase. In a short but sweet post on Steam, the developers stated:
It’s been a thrilling week for the entire team, one that we’ll never forget. We’re utterly dazzled by your kindness, openness, and excitement throughout the entire Open Beta period. Everyone at Embark is full of gratitude, and it will fuel us as we continue to develop THE FINALS.
So what happens now? Well, the developers plan to "hunker down" and work on deploying fixes and improvements that their millions of fans helped them identify during the Open Beta.
There's no exact release date for The Finals just yet, but we do know for sure the game is already fantastically fun. Let's hope we get a solid release date in the next few months, as The Finals might just be the next big hit, especially considering its Open Beta numbers.
