Although 2022's The Game Awards already looking stacked with new releases, one more cherry has been added to the cake with recent news of Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8 supposedly making an appearance. If this news makes you as excited as we are, we have you covered in this article.
Below will be taking a look at all the information we have on the supposed reports of Tekken 8 being revealed during The Game Awards, as well as everything else we know about the game's upcoming release.
Reports Claim Tekken 8 Will Be Revealed During the Game Awards
AvoidingThePuddle, a Twitch streamer, tweeted a photo of what appears to be promotional merchandise for the upcoming title, Tekken 8. The package includes a Tekken 8 t-shirt as well as a message indicating that the game will be shown at The Game Awards.

The message simply says, "tune into The Game Awards Livestream," and it includes a link to The Game Awards' Twitch channel as well as a reminder of the event's kick-off date on the 8th of December. Bandai Namco has stated that the game may be released during the fiscal year 2023, which runs from the 1st of April 2023 to the 31st of March 2024. So perhaps a release date and a new trailer will be announced at The Game Awards.
Tekken 8 was officially announced during a PlayStation State of Play Livestream in September. The reveal video showed Jin fighting Kazuya on the side of a volcano, with Harada emphasizing that the action was happening in real-time, so it would make sense for us to receive an update on the game now as we end off the year and look to 2023.
Harada said at the time that "We are very excited to show the next generation of Tekken," and went on to say that “The team at Bandai Namco Studios has been hard at work to bring groundbreaking new features to Tekken 8, pushing the feeling of power in battles continuously further by harnessing the power of the latest generation of consoles. We can’t wait to show you more in the months to come.”
Overall, this leaves us in anticipation for The Game Awards, as we are likely to see the next step forward in the Tekken franchise as the game is set to be brand new and not reuse any of the assets from Tekken 7, and needless to say, it looks like it will be a jaw-dropping title. Tekken 8 is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
