Starfield is a sprawling open world RPG where you're bestowed with countless dialogue options over the course of your journey. Not every conversation is engaging, but sometimes you can persuade NPCs to get out of a tricky situation.
Unlike Skyrim or Fallout 4, persuasion in Starfield isn't completely tied to skills but instead relies on a mini-game mechanic. If you're confused about how this mini-game works, here's our guide, which explains how persuasion works in Starfield.
Starfield Persuasion System Explained
The persuasion system in Starfield involves choosing the correct set of dialogues to fill the persuasion meter. Filling the persuasion meter before running out of options will successfully persuade the NPC.
These options are color-coded and have a number assigned to them. Grey or Green dialogues have more chance of success. Yellow has a slightly lower chance of success, whereas red can be the least successful. However, a number like 4, 5, or 6 fills up the persuasion meter quickly compared to something like 1 or 2, so sometimes it's best to risk it all.
How to Increase Persuasion in Starfield
You can increase your chances of persuading a character in Starfield by unlocking and upgrading the Persuasion skill. Upgrading it to rank 4 could increase your persuasion chance up to 50%.
Here are the bonuses you can get by unlocking every rank of the Persuasion skill:
Rank 1: 10% increased chance of success when persuading someone.
Rank 2: 20% increased chance of success when persuading someone.
Rank 3: 30% increased chance of success when persuading someone.
Rank 4: 50% increased chance of success when persuading someone.
That's everything you need to know about the persuasion system in Starfield.
