The social deduction game Among Us became a worldwide phenomenon in the wake of a global pandemic and has continued to remain a popular game almost seven years after its release. While developer Innersloth continued to support the game with multiple content and game updates and preparing for the upcoming release of Among Us 3D, the developer announced a support update for an Among Us game version.
The news was posted to the developer's news site and across the game's official social media accounts, outlining that they'll depreciate the 2022 game version of Among Us. Crewmates are advised to load the game to check which version they're running before updating the game files to reflect the current game version as detailed by the developer.
Innersloth posted their latest Developer Blog post on 5th March 2025, announcing that the 2022 game version of Among Us will be depreciated as of the date of this depreciation announcement. The developer advises Crewmates to check the game version in the "top left of the main menu," which, if they see “v2022,” they're required to update the game to "v2024.11.26 as soon as possible" so that they "can keep slinging false accusations playing!"
This depreciation applies to most if not all, platform editions of the game, so Crewmates must update the game; however, if they cannot update to the 2024 version, they can submit a support ticket and proceed from there. Alternatively, they could wait until the launch of Among Us 3D, whose release date has yet to be confirmed, but a demo launched on PC via Steam during the recent Steam Next Fest.
Furthermore, Innersloth has stated that there are plans for the 2023 versions to be depreciated; however, they're "not quite there yet" and will inform Crewmates beforehand. "We plan to keep expanding Among Us with features, roles, bug updates, improved security, etc., and getting Crewmates on similar versions helps with that development," the developer concluded.
