Stardew Valley's Trout Derby is one of the game's newest events added in the 1.6 update, largely focused on the game's fishing mechanic. Here's everything you need to know about Stardew Valley's Trout Derby, including when and where it is, how to win, and what rewards you can earn.
Where & When Is The Trout Derby In Stardew Valley?
The Trout Derby takes place in Cindersap Forest on the 20th and 21st of summer. To find the festival, head out to the river near Marnie's Ranch. Unlike most of the game's festivals, time passes during this festival, and players don't need to complete any prerequisites to start it or get to it.
Notably, you can also set up camp in the Forest during this festival, letting you spend the night nearby so you can continue fishing in the morning. This makes it extremely convenient to participate in the Trout Derby.
How To Win The Trout Derby In Stardew Valley
The Trout Derby involves catching as many Rainbow Trout as possible. Catching a Rainbow Trout grants the player a 33% chance to get a Golden Tag. These Golden Tags can be exchanged for prizes at the booth.
Before the festival begins, it's a good idea to create a Bait Maker and use it to catch the Rainbow Trout during it. This can significantly increase your chances of getting more Rainbow Trout, and thus, more Golden Tags.
