Stardew Valley's 1.6 update finally hit consoles and mobile devices recently, with PC getting a 1.6.12 update with some bug fixes and new features. One of the most exciting changes in this patch is that it's much easier to gain Foraging experience, since there are much more ways to earn it.
Players can now earn Foraging experience from digging up special dirt spots, panning, harvesting gingers, and chopping twigs. Chopping trees and stumps already granted players Foraging experience prior to the update, but they'll now offer a little more.
In addition to the new ways to earn Foraging experience, the 1.6.12 update includes one more tiny change: Sandy now sells basic pants in her shop, giving the Desert Shop a little more variety in its stock.
On top of these major changes are various bug fixes, including fixes to crashes in LAN multiplayer, incorrect sound effects, and game crashes.
The 1.6 update on consoles and mobile devices wasn't without a few bugs of its own on release. Players who started out on a new Meadowlands farm found that opening the door to the chicken coop on the first day would result in them losing their chickens for good. ConcernedApe joked that there was a lore explanation for the bug: a "wild coyote" was eating the chickens. The issue has since been patched.
