ConcernedApe's Stardew Valley is a great experience when playing all on your own, but it's even more fun with friends; in fact, you can bring up to four people to farm on the same town in Stardew Valley. If your friends play the game on other platforms - for example, if you play on PC but your friends play on Xbox and Playstation - you might be wondering, does Stardew Valley have crossplay?
In this article, we'll answer this super common question and go into more detail about whether Stardew Valley has crossplay so you can play with your friends who own the game on platforms other than your own.
Does Stardew Valley Have Crossplay?
Unfortunately, Stardew Valley does not currently offer crossplay. If you play on PC, you won't be able to play with your friends on Xbox or PlayStation, and vice versa. This is unfortunate, but it's just the way it is for Stardew Valley players right now. To play with your friends, you'll need to play Stardew Valley on the same platform as them.
There is one exception to the fact that Stardew Valley does not have crossplay; you can play with your friends on Mac if you're on PC, and vice versa, and only if you both purchased the game on either Steam or GOG respectively. If you're playing on PC and you purchased the Steam version of the game, for example, but your friend on Mac purchased the GOG version, you, unfortunately, won't be able to play together even though the two editions of the game are effectively exactly the same.
While Stardew Valley doesn't offer cross-platform play for most players, it's possible that this feature could come sometime in a future update. For now, though, you'll have to log into the same platform as your friends if you want to start a farm with them unless you happen to be playing on Mac and PC.
