Skin pouches are items, similar to the Emergency Pack, that players cannot craft in-game but can be found throughout the island. These items are spotted when rummaging through cannibal villages during your explorations, most of which are on the island’s western side.
How you can find skin pouches will ask you to explore and locate cannibal villages and possibly eliminate them before raiding their bodies. This guide details where you can find skin pouches and how to use them in Sons Of The Forest.
Where To Find & Use Skin Pouches In Sons Of The Forest?
Skin pouches, once discovered, will be added to your inventory, and you can store them without opening them until you’ve collected the maximum amount of pouches. They are often found in cannibal camps and on the bodies of cannibals and, quite similar to bags seen on the island, can contain valuable loot.
Some items include meds, berries, Energy Bars and Drinks, duct tape, cloth, wire, and cash. To open a skin pouch, you must have found one from a cannibal’s body and located it within your inventory.
You will head to your inventory system and locate the skin pouch before placing it on the gray crafting mat at the center. Next, you can click on the Gear icon top right of the crafting mat to open the skin pouch and pour out the items inside.
Once you’ve acquired the items in the skin pouches, you won’t be able to keep them; instead, you’ll discard them. A known bug has been reported preventing players from either collecting or opening skin pouches if they’ve received the “can’t carry any more skin pouches” prompt.
This occurs when you have six skin pouches in your inventory, as you cannot pick up more or even open just one pouch. While the bug may appear insignificant, the loot contained in these pouches is extremely valuable and is a huge inconvenience for players unable to open these pouches.
There are a few known workarounds to resolve this bug until developer Endnight Games has patched the bug. You can craft a shelf and place the skin pouches on it before saving your game progress, exiting the game, and restarting it to hopefully allow you to open the pouches.
Another workaround is to check the number of oysters in your inventory, as that can also bug the skin pouches, so we suggest eating them raw or cooked and free up some space. Some have reported other items that could be bugging the skin pouches, so keep an eye on the items you’re holding and their quantity.
