Pre-orders are now available only in Japan for Silent Hill 2 remake's official soundtrack, and five lucky purchasers will get copies signed by none other than Akira Yamaoka himself. The pre-order page, which can only be accessed in Japan, confirms that the soundtrack will be released in a 3-CD set.
Akira Yamaoka addressed the release himself on X/Twitter, noting that he has "remade all the original tracks" as well as added brand-new ones for the remake. "After 25 years, my approach to music has evolved," he explains. "This work reflects that change."
The soundtrack is one of many updates and retouches Bloober Team and Konami have added to the survival horror game in the remake. While James Sunderland's story and much of the title's plot elements are promised to stay true to the original, the game does include modernizations like new graphics, character models, and the aforementioned all-new soundtrack.
Fans already got to hear one of the songs on the soundtrack - a remastered version of the iconic Promise from the original game - in the Silent Hill 2 release date trailer. Aside from that, though, the full soundtrack hasn't been released - and fans will need to wait a bit longer to listen to it in full.
For now, there's no word on when the game's official soundtrack is set to release in other regions, either, such as EU or NA. The Silent Hill 2 remake by Bloober Team and Konami is set to release in early October 2024, just in time for Halloween. It's likely that we'll see pre-orders for the soundtrack open before then, but it's also possible that they could go live when the game does.
