Original Silent Hill 2 director Masashi Tsuboyama has recently praised Bloober Team and Konami's Silent Hill remake, saying that he is "very happy about [the remake]" as a creator and that fans can enjoy the 2024 title as it is, even without knowing the original.
But more recently, he also directed his congratulations and thanks to the original game's team on X/Twitter, noting that "Silent Hill was a special place for its developers as well." He discussed the original game's development, and how far the franchise has come in the past two decades.
"I think 2024 has been a special year for the OG team. I believe that our passion for our work and your thoughts have led us to this point," Tsuboyama said. "You could say that Silent Hill 2 was born not through the efforts of individuals, but through their fusion. Therefore, this work reflects the uniqueness of ORIGINAL SH2 TEAM."
Tsuboyama mentioned Masahiro Ito, Silent Hill 2 Art Director, and Hiroyuki Owaku, one of the game's writers, as members who worked together on the framework from scratch. "They demonstrated their full potential in their respective fields of expertise," he said.
Just recently, Ito has also taken to Twitter to clear up some long-lasting theories surrounding Pyramid Head and answer fans' questions surrounding the iconic character's role in the franchise.
