Konami's Silent Hill franchise has seen a revival in the past year after years of leaks and speculation speckling forums all across the internet. The Silent Hill Transmission heralded the announcement of a Silent Hill 2 remake, several new Silent Hill games, including Silent Hill F and Ascension, and even an upcoming Silent Hill movie based on the second game.
With many players wanting to get their hands on the games when they release, many fans are wondering, "Will Silent Hill 2 remake be a PlayStation exclusive?" After all, some other games in the Silent Hill franchise have only been available on PlayStation, so it makes sense that the Silent Hill 2 remake might follow suit.
If you're wondering whether Silent Hill 2 remake will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, read on. We're here to give you the scoop on which platforms on which you can play the Silent Hill 2 remake.
Will The Silent Hill 2 Remake Be A PlayStation Exclusive
According to Silent Hill developers Konami and Bloober Team, yes, the Silent Hill 2 remake will be a PlayStation exclusive for one year after its release. After that, the game will also come to PC, but players shouldn't expect it to arrive on another console (cough, Xbox, cough) anytime soon.
When Will The Silent Hill 2 Remake Be Available On PC
The Silent Hill 2 remake will be available to enjoy on PC via Steam. However, players will not be able to get a taste of the updated fog world until well after fans who own a PlayStation 5 since the game will remain a PlayStation exclusive for a year after its release.
Developers promise that the wait for PC players will be worth it, with Bloober Team representatives claiming that Silent Hill 2's iconic story will remain the same in the remake while gameplay and graphics will see an overhaul.
When Will The Silent Hill 2 Remake Be Available On Xbox
Unfortunately, while the Silent Hill 2 remake will be available on PlayStation at release and will later be available to play on PC, the game will not ever come to Xbox.
Leaked internal Microsoft documents from October 2022 reveal that Sony made a deal with several major game companies, including the likes of Konami and Sony, to prevent some of the games they developed from being released on Xbox consoles. The Silent Hill 2 remake was explicitly mentioned in the documents as a game that would be excluded from an Xbox release.
"Sony has also entered into arrangements with third-party publishers which require the 'exclusion' of Xbox from the set of platforms these publishers can distribute their games on," the document reads. "Some prominent examples of these agreements include . . . the recently announced Silent Hill 2 remastered (Bloober team)."
