Sea of Thieves developers, Rare, have remained tight-lipped about the forthcoming season, leaving fans of the swashbuckling pirate game clueless -- or rather, shipwrecked. This follows after there was only one minor leak pointing to potential content planned for the upcoming season.
That was true, until recently now. A new 1-minute teaser has just dropped across the Sea of Thieves social media channels, confirming what many fans have long suspected: Sea of Thieves is expanding the time you'll likely spend underwater, promising a "kingdom of riches, beyond compare" for those that do.
Sea of Thieves Season 4 teaser hints at "kingdom of riches"
The kingdom referenced in the teaser appears to come from a bygone era. It is also yet to be made clear whether this is a civilisation that exists under the sea or whether it is merely the remnants of an ancient kingdom.
In case you missed the teaser, don't worry. We've embedded the teaser for you below, for your viewing convenience.
The imagery used in the teaser definitely hits at something supernatural -- a theme that Sea of Thieves hasn't been scared to dive into before (pun intended) -- with the narrator opening the teaser with the question: "Can you hear it... calling to you?"
The narrator could perhaps be hinting towards the sirens of Greek mythology, which are rumoured to be dangerous creatures that lure nearby sailors with their enchanting music and singing voices to shipwreck on the coast of nearby islands.
One thing we do know for sure is the release date. The trailer reveals that Sea of Thieves Season 4 will launch on 23rd September.
