Ghosts and ghouls, to cursed treasures and islands. Are there more frightening activities to expect this Halloween in Sea of Thieves?

Spooktober is officially in high gear, especially for Sea of Thieves developer Rare, who just released their Preview video highlighting what's to come in its forthcoming season. Season 14: Pirates of Mischief will expand current combat and movement mechanics by adding new stealth features, weapons, and tools for pirates to look forward to.

However, given how close the season's release is to Halloween, the developer has gone above and beyond in previous years by adding unique limited-time events and cosmetics for this special holiday, so can we expect it once again in 2024? We've done some investigating across the islands, with our Spyglass in hand, to determine if we pirates can look forward to a Halloween event in Sea of Thieves.

1st November 2024 Update: Developer Rare announced the return of the Halloween-themed Gold & Glory event, Ghoul & Glory, which is live in-game between 31st October to 4th November 2024 at 10 am UTC.

Will There Be A Halloween Seasonal Event For Sea Of Thieves In 2024?

Sea of Thieves has had Halloween-themed events in the past, including the Fate and Fury of the Damned events from 2020 and 2021 and the Tricksters and Treaters from 2022. While they didn't have a Halloween-themed exclusive event last year, they gave their reoccurring event, Gold & Glory, a Halloween makeover with the Ghoul & Glory event that took place around this spooky time of the year.

As such, with Season 14: Pirates of Mischief ready to sneak onboard and onto multiple platforms starting from 17th October 2024, it hasn't been announced if a new and equally terrifying Halloween event could happen in-game this year. Given that the Ghoul & Glory event first took place in 2019 before returning the following year alongside the Fate of the Damned Halloween event and Fury of the Damned in 2021 before skipping 2022, it's more than likely we may see the return of the Ghoul & Glory event if Rare isn't planning a major Halloween-themed limited time event in 2024.

So what is the Ghoul & Glory event in Sea of Thieves? It's a Halloween-themed Gold & Glory in-game event that runs for five days in Sea of Thieves, offering pirates some bonuses to take advantage of during the event. This includes double Gold and Reputation bonuses, increases to Renown and Allegiance, and new log-in rewards for them to claim.

However, since Season 14 is themed on pirates getting up to trouble across the islands, this could be the perfect opportunity to bring back the Tricksters and Treaters Halloween-themed event. This event finds pirates involved in some high seas hijinks either by being helpful to others or tricking each other in a competition to raise points for their cumulative Community Goals, which helps them unlock unique rewards.

For now, we'll have to wait for possible Halloween news from the developer once Sea of Thieves Season 14: Pirates of Mischief launches for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles on 17th October 2024. Pirates can anticipate new stealth mechanics, like crouching and hanging off the side of fleets, new weapons and tools releasing with the new season, like the Blow Dart Gun, Throwable Traps, and the Grappling Gun, and plenty of Quality-of-Life updates, including much-needed improvements and gameplay optimizations.
