On the back of the Capcom Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase event, the Japanese developer and publisher made an announcement relating to the Resident Evil series. More specifically, this pertains to Resident Evil Re:Verse, the multiplayer "survival revenge battle" game they released more than a year after the release of Resident Evil Village.
Following its release, Re:Verse was subsequently bundled with the standard edition of Village based on the game's listings for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via Steam. Sadly, this multiplayer game has reached the end of the road as a new announcement notice from the Japanese developer and publisher confirmed that its services will end in the coming weeks, providing further information in the notice's FAQ section.
This multiplayer game launched on 28th October 2022, which saw multiple updates over the months, including costume packs, new maps, survivors, creatures, and more, which were part of a roadmap plan outlined and posted to their official channels. Resident Evil Re:Verse was intended to feature gameplay and mechanics similar to a competitive deathmatch mode; however, due to the lack of content revealed in the roadmap, it wasn't well-received by ardent fans of the series.
In the aforementioned announcement notice, Capcom explained that while Resident Evil Re:Verse was "developed" to celebrate the Resident Evil series' 25th anniversary, they stated that they've "reached a new turning point for the series." They continued adding that since they felt "that Resident Evil Re:Verse has served its original, celebratory purpose admirably," on 3rd Match 2025 at 4 pm UTC, Resident Evil Re:Verse will be removed from all digital storefronts alongside nine content packs, including the Premium Pass will also be removed.
The multiplayer game will remain playable as long as players own a copy of it within their digital library until 30th June 2025 at 6:59 pm UTC, when it will be taken offline, ending services. Additionally, Resident Evil Re:Verse will no longer be included with the standard edition of Resident Evil Village on this date, as Capcom clearly outlined that players have until this date to utilize their RP Boosters, which will be voided once the game services have ended, which also applies to the content included with the Premium Pass.
