Resident Evil 2 is coming to Apple devices - including iPhone 16 models, iPhone 15 Pro models, and all iPads and Macs with the M1 chip or newer - on 10 December 2024. The game's port to mobile was announced last month, but without a specific release date. The App Store listed the release date as 31 December, but this was likely a placeholder given Capcom's newest announcement.
Resident Evil 2 for iOS includes cross-progression - at least across other iOS devices. So while you can't transfer over your progress from console to your iPad, you can seamlessly transmit your Mac's save data for your phone, for example. The iPhone and iPad versions of the game will also include enhanced controls, Auto Fire, and controller support.
For those who are uncertain about their purchase or just want to check out how the game runs on iOS devices, a demo will be available to try out before buying Resident Evil 2. The full game is a little over 30GB in a size and includes all features and sections from the console version, while the free demo will only let players explore a bit of Raccoon City.
With the addition of cross-progression, enhanced controls, and a free demo, Resident Evil 2 for iOS is set to offer a more accessible version of the game for mobile players. The title joins a growing list of Resident Evil games available on mobile, including Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 7 biohazard.
