Resident Evil 0 could be the next Resident Evil remake to come from Capcom, rumors shared by insider AestheticGamer/Dusk Golem suggest. Dusk Golem is known for sharing true (and some untrue) rumors about Resident Evil titles, and has accurately predicted several remakes' releases before.
While the original Resident Evil 0 was released in 2002, a highly-rated HD Remaster was released in 2016. The remaster didn't add much new content, and was instead a visual update that modernized the game for newer consoles. A potential remake would likely add new content and plot points, and perhaps change existing ones.
Along with the speculated remake would potentially be a movie adaptation of the title, Dusk Golem noted. This would make sense, given that Screen Gems/Constantin Films (the company with the rights to the franchise), is obligated by their contract with Capcom to release a Resident Evil movie tied to the franchise every five fiscal years. The next one is set for 2026, if it follows the usual timeline.
But the rumors don't end there. Fans are already speculating about the movie's plot, and what it might unveil. It seems pretty likely that, if it's anything like the game, it'll follow Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen as they discover some of the franchise's best-hidden secrets. It could also introduce some new lore, though, deepening the franchise's vast story even further.
Resident Evil 0 doesn't have a confirmed release date; in fact, it isn't even confirmed to be in production from Capcom quite yet. However, the rumors are interesting, and many fans of the franchise would no doubt be incredibly excited if they were real. Fans of RE0 will have to wait and see if Capcom confirms the rumors, and if a Resident Evil 0 movie and/or game could be hitting shelves in 2026 or even earlier.
