Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition are getting physical releases coming soon, Capcom announced. All three games will offer a native physical PS5 release on 6 December in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Fans in Japan will need to wait until 26 December, while North American fans will be able to get their hands on a copy starting in January 2025.

The PS5 versions of the games include features that enhance graphics and gameplay, including ray tracing, immersive 3D audio, and higher frame rates. Players will be able to experience "smoother images during gameplay thanks to the increased processing speed of next-generation hardware," Capcom says.

Players who already own the games on PS4 or Xbox One will be able to upgrade to the newly enhanced digital PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions for free. And, don't fret - save data is totally transferable, so if you choose to upgrade, you won't be throwing away your progress.

Each of the three physical titles will retail for $29.99. Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition not only includes the base title, but also all of its related DLCs. However, note that Resident Evil: Resistance isn't included as part of the updates.

With the release of these three titles on PS5, fans can now get all of the modern Resident Evil games - including RE Village and Game of the Year nominee Resident Evil 4 remake - on the platform.

In other Resident Evil news, rumors are swirling around surrounding Resident Evil 9 and its possible release date, given that the game is already in development. Some suggest that a major announcement about the title could be coming soon after a ratings page popped up online. For now, though, Capcom hasn't offered any recent updates, so fans will have to wait and see what's in store.
