One of the main goals for players when attempting to complete the main story of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is to fill up the Pokédex. While it’s not an apparent goal, it should be among the chief focuses for players throughout their journey in Sinnoh. Players need to fill up the regional Sinnoh Dex in order to acquire the National Dex, which unlocks the post-game.
When trying to fill up the Pokédex, players can overlook several Pokémon. These Pokémon aren’t too common in the wild or when fighting trainers, making players wonder where they can find them. Finneon is among these Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and players need to find it in some specific locations to add it to their Pokédex.
Catching Finneon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Finneon is a relatively easy Pokémon to find if you know where to look. In fact, it can be found as early as Hearthome City, provided players have the Good Rod. Hearthome is where you can find the Good Rod, which you need to encounter Finneon.
Once you have the rod, you can travel back to Jubilife City and head to the west on Route 218. Here, you will find some water that you can use your Good Rod on. The Good Rod is in the Key Items pouch and you can use it when directly next to the water.
From here, you will bring out the fishing rod and will need to wait for an exclamation mark. Once this appears, you need to press A. With some luck, your fishing encounter will be a Finneon. There’s a 35% chance of you encountering it, with the other percentage being a Magikarp. You will need to keep fishing until you encounter a Finneon on the route.
If you don’t want to go on Route 218, you can find Finneon in the following locations:
- Route 205
- Route 219
- Route 220
- Route 221
- Valley Windworks
- Fuego Ironworks
- Iron Island
All of these locations have water that can be fished and have a chance to encounter Finneon. That’s the entire process of finding the Water-type in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
If you want to evolve Finneon into Lumineon, you will need to train it up to level 31.
