Pokémon TCG Pocket is a mobile game that can be played pretty much in its entirety without ever spending a penny. There are optional microtransactions that buy premium items and currency, like Poke Gold, but they serve only to obtain cosmetics or speed up your Booster Pack recovery rate.

But, for so many of us, its easy to get swept up by Pokémon TCG Pocket especially when all you want to do is open more Booster Packs. If you're out of Hourglasses, you might be looking to Poke Gold to speed up your cooldowns — but is there a way to get Poke Gold for free?

Can You Get Free Poke Gold in Pokémon TCG Pocket

There's currently only one way to get free Poke Gold in Pokémon TCG Pocket, and that's by leveling up in game. For each level you gain in Pokémon TCG Pocket, you're awarded one Poke Gold. However, for every five levels you're given an additional Poke Gold.

This means that by Level 50, the game's current level cap, players can earn themselves a total of 60 Poke Gold. This takes a while, however, but it's a surefire way to get your hands on some Poke Gold without ever spending real money.

What is Poke Gold Used For in Pokémon TCG Pocket?

Poke Gold has a few uses in Pokémon TCG Pocket. The most obvious is to use it to buy exclusive cosmetics that can only be bought with premium currency. For example, at the time of writing, players can currently purchase the following exclusive cosmetics:

• Pokémon Coin (Erika) + Bonuses A — 115 Poke Gold
• Pokémon Coin (Erika) + Bonuses B — 45 Poke Gold

Both of these bundles are available until January 30, 2025. 

Poke Gold can also be used to restore your Pack Stamina, allowing you to open more packs without waiting for them to refresh over time. 1 Poke Gold will reduce the time it takes for your Stamina to refresh by 2 hours. To refresh a whole pack at max wait time, it will cost 6 Poke Gold.
