Team GO Rocket will bring trouble to Pokémon GO when they take over PokéStops worldwide in their upcoming event. With Team GO Rocket Grunts and Leaders appearing more frequently, Trainers can fend off their attacks to collect Mysterious Components to build Rocket and Super Rocket Radars.
As Super Rocket Radars can be used to find Giovanni, you can progress with the Special Research story to save Shadow Registeel. But can it be a Shiny Shadow Pokémon? We find out whether you can encounter and catch a Shiny Shadow Registeel in Pokémon GO.
Can Shadow Registeel Be Shiny In Pokémon GO?
The Team GO Rocket Takeover event will feature a Special Research story where Trainers will finally go toe-to-toe with Team GO Rocket's Boss, Giovanni. As they'll need to rescue his Shadow Pokémon, Shadow Registeel, is there a chance it can be a Shiny once it's purified?
Luckily for Trainers, this may very well be the case as Trainers can catch a Shiny Shadow Registeel in Pokémon GO, according to Pokémon source, TheSilphRoad, but only through the Special Research story after beating Giovanni. Additionally, Shadow Pokémon can generally be Shiny once Trainers have defeated Team GO Rocket Leaders, Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra, and via the Meowth balloon, where they can face Jesse and James.
The Team GO Rocket Takeover event will begin on 1st February 2023 at 12 am local time and conclude on 5th February 2023 at 11:59 pm local time. During this event, the Special Research story will be made available at the start, and you have plenty of time to claim the Research story and complete it.
You have until the conclusion of the Season of Mythical Wishes on 1st March 2023, at 10 am local time to claim and complete its tasks. Once it's finished, you'll face off against Giovanni, and after defeating him, you can save his Shadow Registeel and purify it using Stardust and Candy to acquire a Shiny Registeel.
Trainers can use Premier Balls to catch a Shadow Pokémon as you'll receive a maximum of five Premier Balls from defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts and one for each remaining Pokémon left in your line-up. Like with every encounter, you can use various Berries like Razz, Nanab, and Pinap Berries to increase your chances of catching Pokémon and gaining more Candy.
With a Shadow Registeel in your possession, you can purify it or leave it in its Shadow status, which you can power up to learn a second Charged Attack. If you choose to purify it, its IV stats will be boosted with a chance of having a 100% IV score.
