The Lunar New Year event is currently underway in Pokémon GO, with the seasonal event welcoming a new challenger that Trainers can face in five-star Raids: the Legendary Ice-type Pokémon, Regice, has returned in-game, bringing its robust moveset, which you’ll need to counter. While this presents another opportunity to catch the Pokémon after defeating it in Raids, the question begs: Can Regice be Shiny in Pokémon GO?
Is There A Shiny Regice In Pokémon GO?
Regice has returned to Pokémon GO as the latest five-star Raid Boss, coinciding with the current Lunar New Year event. As such, those looking to add Regice to their Pokédex can potentially encounter a Shiny Regice in the current Raid rotation.
Regice and Shiny Regice are featured in five-star Raids, which began on 18th January 2023 at 10 am local time before ending its Raid rotation on 25th January 2023 at 10 am local time. Regice also had a Raid Hour event on 18th January 2023 between 6 pm and 7 pm local time.
Being a Legendary Ice-type Pokémon, Regice is a formidable opponent, as its Icy exterior makes it difficult to inflict damage. However, due to its current moveset, whichever counter you use against Regice will have to take some damage in exchange.
While Regice is an Ice-type Pokémon, it will have access to Ice and Fighting-type attacks, which can help you decide which counters to use against it. Therefore, Fighting, fire, Rock, and Steel-type Pokémon are the best counters. Specifically, Charizard, Blaziken, Aerodactyl, and Lopunny are good options for your Raid line-up.
To make the Raid encounter against Regice a success, there are a few valuable items you can take advantage of once Regice is defeated. To successfully catch Regice in a Raid encounter, it's recommended to use a Premier Ball after a five-star or Mega Raid, but to use them sparingly.
Utilizing different types of Throws, such as Excellent or Curveball, can also increase the chances of catching the Pokémon. Berries, like Razz, Nanab, and Silver Pinap, can also make the catching process easier. Additionally, if you have a Great Buddy level/ranking Pokémon with you, it will have a unique buff when trying to catch Regice, and if the Poké Ball deflects, it will give you another chance to catch Regice using a Premier Ball.
