2023 is the Year of the Rabbit as Niantic celebrates the New Moon with festivities in Pokémon GO’s Lunar New Year event. With Bunnelby and Buneary appearing in this event alongside their Shiny forms, it also sees Darumaka returning for another in-game appearance.

Will There Be A Shiny Darumaka In Pokémon GO?
As the observance of a New Moon will occur soon, Pokémon GO’s Lunar New Year will be marked by the arrival of a Shiny Darumaka for the event. With Darumaka spawning more frequently for the event’s duration, as will the Shiny Darumaka for lucky Trainers.
Darumaka and Shiny Darumaka will be available at the start of the Lunar New Year beginning on 19th January 2023 at 10 am local time before the celebrations conclude on 23rd January 2023 at 8 pm local time. During the event, you can try to find Darumaka and Shiny Darumaka spawning in wild encounters, but there are other event activities where you can encounter Darumaka.
There will be event-themed Field and Special Research tasks available for the duration of the Lunar New Year event; completing the tasks will award you an encounter with Darumaka or Shiny Darumaka. Additionally, its Galarian form will also appear for this event, where there’s a chance to earn encounters with Galarian or Shiny Galarian Darumaka as rewards.
Likewise, Darumaka and Galarian Darumaka will be featured as a one-star Raid Boss, possibly facing Shiny Darumaka and Shiny Galarian Darumaka. Lastly, Darumaka and Galarian Darumaka can be hatched from 7km Eggs when placed in Incubators during the event.
Nevertheless, when encountering Shiny Darumaka or Shiny Galarian Darumaka in wild and Raid encounters, you can use either standard or Glacial Lure Modules to attract them to your PokéStop location for a half hour. You can also use Incense to lure Shiny Darumaka or Shiny Galarian Darumaka; however, its duration, when activated, is longer than Lure Modules at 60 minutes.
