For months, players have been intrigued about a Small Handheld Device, and now, they can solve its mystery in the Found Item quest, A Device in the Hand. This little device has caused some confusion on how players could use it and that it can be found in multiple locations across Kilima Village.
Nevertheless, now that the intrigue has been resolved, this device has some connections with Reth, which they’ll learn about when completing the quest. Requiring no soup to complete the quest, we’ve detailed all the objectives and a summary of how to finish A Device in the Hand quest in Palia.
Palia A Device In The Hand Quest Objectives List
During your time exploring the rolling hills, grassy plains, and various temples and shrines across Kilima Village, some strange artifacts can be found either in plain sight or hidden away from prying eyes. The Found Item quest, A Device in the Hand, fits this description as many have discovered a Small Handheld Device in one of the recent patches; however, the allure of this device remained unclear.
In the v0.172 patch update, the game's developer finally added its quest for players to complete and will have to decide what to do with it before completing it. Let's go over the quest objectives for A Device in the Hand quest to guide players through this mysterious adventure in Palia:
- Talk to Reth
- Gather the following items so Reth can repair Zeki's broken device
- 0/1 Palium Bar
- 0/1 Glass Pane
- Return to Reth
- Hide the tablet or turn it in
How To Complete The A Device In The Hand Quest In Palia?
As mentioned before, this device was discovered by many players prior to the release of the v0.172 patch update. However, this device was reported to be found in randomized locations, with the Temple of the Waves vault door in Phoenix Falls being the most popular location.
Other notable locations include the ruins north of Fisherman's Lagoon and the ruins between Chapaa Crossing and the Mayor's Estate, where many can find Auni, Hassian, and Tau during the day. Nevertheless, after two days of searching, ours appeared near the entrance to the Temple of the Waves, and like many others, we had to wait for a letter to appear in their Mailbox.
The letter is from Reth, who inquires if they haven't perhaps found a "weird handheld device" before describing its appearance. This matches the one discovered, and they can proceed to speak with him; they learn that he broke one of Zeki's machines and hid the device in hopes that Zeki would forget about it, but it didn't work.
Players must help Reth repair this device by acquiring resources, which can be mined before processing them into a Palium Bar and a Glass Pane. They can smelt Palium Ore into a bar using the Basic Smelter provided they've obtained the blueprint for Palium Bar from Hodari's Mining Guild Store, and the Glass Pane is crafted from stones using the Glass Furnace.
With the items on hand, they can return to Reth, who fixes the machine, and now, they have the choice to either hide the device for Zeki to find on his own or turn in the device to Zeki. Players can make this decision for themselves, but we do enjoy a good mystery, so we hid the device at the Underground Black Market near Reth's Storeroom that completes the quest, and players will receive three Star-Quality dishes, the Akwinduu Chapaa, Delaila's Peach Cake, and Sushi, with a letter from Reth.
Palia is currently available via the Epic Games Store and in Open Beta for PC, as players can install the game launcher detailed in this guide. The game is now available to download for Nintendo Switch as of 14th December 2023.
