Nintendo announced that a new peripheral for the Nintendo Switch consoles will hit the shelves this year. The announcement was made across their multiple social media channels, where they'll be retailing the Joy-Con Charging Stand, set to arrive on 17th October 2024.
The 2-Way Joy-Con Charging Stand is currently listed on Nintendo Japan's store page, where pre-orders have gone live. It is priced at 3,300 Japanese Yen (around $20 / €19 / £16), providing some details on the Joy-Con Charging Stand, including its description, compatibility, and peripheral uses.
According to the Joy-Con Charging Stand's translated listing on the Nintendo Japan store, this peripheral allows owners to "easily charge the Joy-Con" without connecting it to the Switch console. Switch owners have the option to charge their Joy-Cons either by placing it upwards on the Charging Stand or laying the stand flat on a surface.
Nintendo further added that this Charging Stand is great for Switch owners in possession of multiple Joy-Cons, which is great for those who enjoy playing couch co-op and local multiplayer titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Maker 2, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Cuphead, and Overcooked. The Joy-Con Charging Stand can also be used to charge Joy-Cons that are not in while playing in Portable Mode.
Lastly, the Joy-Con Charging Stand is compatible with charging Switch Joy-Cons, but we have also confirmed that the "Family Computer Controller" for the Switch console is also compatible with this peripheral. The Joy-Con Charging Stand includes a charging peripheral and a USB cable, which will become available on 17th October 2024 globally based on social media posts from Nintendo of America, Europe, and Nintendo UK.
