It's not surprising that Marvel Studios has opted to continue planting quick response (QR) codes in the first episode of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law which was first introduced in Moon Knight. QR codes had proven successful as audiences were treated to read a free copy of that respective character's comic book via the Marvel website.
Marvel Studios had gone further and had the first QR code in one She-Hulk trailer, which had been cleverly camouflaged. Below, we've outlined how to track down these codes and which comic books you'll get to read for free.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode 9 QR Code
Our QR code treasure hunting ends in the series finale of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, and as we adjust to seeing Daredevil in the daytime, we can bid farewell in smashing style with the final free comic book. Around the 17:15 timestamp, when She-Hulk breaks the fourth wall, leaves her show on Disney+, and enters an Assembled episode, we can see the code on the signage on the door of the show's writers' room.
Scan the code, and they’ll get to read a free copy of Sensational She-Hulk (1989) #50, whereby She-Hulk similarly breaks the fourth wall after learning about the passing of writer John Byrne. As she sets out to find a new writing team in the comics, in the show, however, she reprimands the actual writers’ room for a messy episode and aims to set things right by meeting K.E.V.I.N. to get the finale she wants… Daredevil included.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode 8 QR Code
The eighth episode gave us plenty of devilish antics in the courtroom and the nighttime streets of Los Angeles; the next QR code is an homage to the newly formed partnership of lawyers. Navigate to the 17:11 timestamp and look for a wooden pole with a notice attached to it to find the episode’s QR code.
Once they’ve scanned the code and patiently get redirected, a free copy of She-Hulk (2014) #9 is available to read. This issue showcases the “ trial of the century” as Jen goes one-on-one against Matt in an intense courtroom battle, much like the one audiences were treated to in the penultimate episode.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode 7 QR Code
As audiences were swept away by Jen and Josh's short-lived courtship, which had many wanting to fight Josh as his true motivations were revealed, they also missed the episode's QR code. During Jen and Josh's date, head to the 2:28 timestamp and look between the food truck's patrons to find the code posing as a sticker.
Scanning the code redirects them to the Marvel website, and the next free comic available to read is the Tales to Astonish (1959) #48 issue. This comic introduces the Porcupine, who grapples with Ant-Man and the Wasp and injures the latter, the same (smelly) character featured in the episode during the therapy session at Emil Blonksy's retreat.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode 6 QR Code
While ardent fans were defeated that their favorite lawyer didn't appear in Episode 6 of She-Hulk, a QR code was spotted amid all the wedding affairs in the episode. This time around the 7:41 timestamp, the code appears on the side skirt of a car crushed by Craig Hollis/Mr. Immortal.
The free comic behind the QR code is The West Coast Avengers (1985) #46, which sees Mr. Immortal make his comic debut, and it's pretty befitting that one of the episode's eclectic characters gets his comic book linked to the QR code. Notably, the synopsis of this episode bears similarities to the comic book issue as the West Coast Avengers have to deal with someone using the "Avengers" name without consent, akin to Titania using the "She-Hulk" name without permission.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode 5 QR Code
Audiences followed Nikki and Pug's antics to a boba shop in Los Angeles in pursuit of the coveted Iron Man Three sneakers. Upon entering the store, the QR code can be seen at the 6:52 timestamp stuck to the wall just below a picture and scanning it will pair them up with a free read of She-Hulk (2004) #10.
Like in the comic, She-Hulk has to face off against her archnemesis; Titania explores why the villain has so much hatred towards her. Luckily, Jen can put her feud with Titania to the side as we were finally teased with the arrival of Matt Murdock/Daredevil towards the end of the episode, thanks to a familiar-looking headgear.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode 4 QR Code
The fourth QR code has proven to be the trickiest one to find, which had me stumped after my first viewing of the episode. Nevertheless, you'll be kicking yourself when it's spotted, as it can be found around the 5:52 timestamp on Jen's dating profile page.
This code will lead them to read a free copy of The West Coast Avengers Annual (1986) #4 featuring Andromeda, Tandy Bowen/Dagger, Sue Richards/Invisible Woman, Jean Grey/Marvel Girl, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Storm, and She-Hulk on its cover. While the context of the issue is quite sinister at best, the episode or series could relate to Jen's dating problem or, if we go a little deeper, seven women have featured in the previous episode as the soulmates of Emil Blonsky/Abomination.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode 3 QR Code
The placement of the series' QR code is seemingly connected to the ongoing issue of a former colleague of Jennifer Walters', Dennis Bukowski. Unfortunately, a Light Elf from New Asgard has impersonated Grammy Award-winning recording artist Megan Thee Stallion, defrauding him of money.
The code appeared at the 8:20 timestamp when Augustus "Pug" Pugliese returned to his laptop following the briefing. As he reviews the video footage of the incident on YouScreen, the QR code appears below the video.
Scanning the QR code redirects to the Marvel website, where they can read a free copy of the Savage She-Hulk (1980) #2. This issue provides a glimpse into Bukowski's personality, who, like his live-action counterpart, is antagonistic toward Walters.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode 2 QR Code
The second episode provided us with the next QR code reasonably early. After her significant courtroom reveal and adopting the moniker of "She-Hulk," Jennifer gets fired from her law firm following a mistrial.
At the 5:55 timestamp, she's exploring the internet for jobs to begin her "fresh start" with the QR code beside the post title. The QR code redirects audiences to the Marvel website, where you can read a free copy of She-Hulk (2004) #1.
The series centers around Jennifer Walters, who undergoes a personal and professional transformation as she juggles being a practicing lawyer and the She-Hulk. It ultimately costs her job (as Jen) due to her obligations as an Avenger (as She-Hulk) but not long until her former boss, Holden Holliway, rehires but not as She-Hulk but as Jennifer Walters (the opposite of what we saw in the episode.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode 1 QR Code
It's befitting that the first episode of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law would feature a QR code tying into her first Marvel Comics appearance, Savage She-Hulk (1980) #1. The QR code appears around the 6:17 timestamp as Jennifer enters a bar from its back entrance near the scene of the accident; on a small poster with the words "Ladies Night" above is a scannable code.
In this debut issue, Dr. Bruce Banner hastily visits his now adult cousin, Jennifer Walters, a practicing lawyer in Los Angeles, where he confides in her that he's The Hulk. Walters, in exchange, reveals that the client she's representing had been framed for murder, leading to her being shot.
Banner tries to save her life by donating his blood, but this goes awry as she gains similar powers to that of her cousin, becoming another "gamma-ray monster" known as She-Hulk. The parallels between the comic book origin and the MCU version are almost similar; instead, a car accident resulted in Banner's blood coming into contact with Walters, resulting in her newly acquired abilities.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law premiered on 18th August 2022, with all episodes available to stream on Disney+.
