Marvel Studios Ms. Marvel – Premiere date, how to watch and more

Marvel Studios will be welcoming yet another hero to the expanding roster of unique and diverse characters. Following the success of Moon Knight, the studio will be turning its attention to one of Marvel's most popular characters, Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel.

While Marvel Comics first introduced the character in 2014, eight years later, she's making her long-awaited marvelous live-action debut in June 2022. Here's everything you'll need to know about the Ms. Marvel series, including its premiere date, how to watch it, and more.

What is the plot of the Ms. Marvel series?

Marvel's forthcoming series will serve as an origin story for the titular character and her superhero introduction to the MCU. Kamala Khan is a Muslim American teenager who's into playing video games, writing fan-fiction, wearing Avengers T-shirts, and is a huge Captain Marvel fan.

The teenager doesn't feel like she belongs within her high school's societal groups due to her interests, which translates to her life at home. However, while she struggles to fit in, she gains cosmic superhero powers that change her life from a dream to a reality, with an equally cosmic superhero costume to match.

Ms. Marvel series casting and characters

The Ms. Marvel cast introduces mostly newly discovered and established actors, making their MCU debut in the series. The series is led by Pakistani-Canadian actress Iman Vellani stepping into the role of Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, the first Muslim superhero to be portrayed in a live-action Marvel property.

In an interview with Variety, Vellani explained that while portraying this character is a monumental milestone, it's "slightly daunting," but she has remained optimistic. "The fact that the show is being made and they're including this character in the MCU is [what's important]."

"I don't really have to go out of my way and talk about being a Muslim and being Pakistani — it all comes out in the show. People seeing a person like me involved in a project as big as this is, I think, inspiring enough."

Azher Usman, Nimra Bucha, Adaku Ononogbo, Fawad Khan, Arian Moayed, Alysia Reiner, Alyy Khan, Mehwish Hayat, Anjali Bhimani, Farhan Akhtar, and Asfandyar Khan round out the ensemble cast. Those expecting Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson, to appear in the series could potentially happen; however, Marvel hasn't alluded to the character's involvement.

When is Ms. Marvel available to stream?

Kamala Khan will be blasting her way onto the small screen first as Ms. Marvel exclusively on Disney+. The series will start streaming on 8th June 2022 before audiences catch up with the teenage superhero in the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, scheduled for a theatrical release on 28th July 2023.

In her first film outing, Kamala Khan is expected to join forces with Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Monica Rambeau/Photon (Teyonah Parris). But, before we see Kamala Khan meet her superhero role, audiences will get acquainted with her as she discovers her inner superhero in Ms. Marvel.

How many episodes will there be of Ms. Marvel?

Compared to the previous Marvel Studios series premiering on Disney+, Ms. Marvel will be receiving six episodes, much like Moon Knight. However, in contrast, the first two episodes will premiere on the same day, 8th June 2022, in a two-hour premiere on the streaming platform.

How to watch the Ms. Marvel series?

Following the antics of this marvelous superhero, the Ms. Marvel standalone series will be available to stream on Disney+ starting 8th June 2022. All the episodes will premiere every Wednesday following its release, for which its run concludes on 6th July 2022.

There is speculation that Ms. Marvel may join the ranks of Loki and What If…? as the MCU's next continuation series. A source leaked an image of a wrapped gift with a gift tag reading "Season 1", which could potentially spell another season may be on the cards for Kamala Khan.

Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ on 8th June 2022, and episodes will stream every Wednesday at 12 am PT / 3 am ET.
