Supergiant Games' forthcoming roguelike action role-playing game Hades 2 has enjoyed its successful Early Access period since its PC launch in May 2024. Following its launch, it has seen a few content releases over the last few months, including the Warsong Update and numerous patch updates to provide multiple bug fixes, gameplay adjustments, and optimizations.
While avid players await confirmation from the developer regarding its full release, that announcement came rather sooner than anticipated as its platform release was revealed. A release date has yet to be finalized as of writing, but the developer confirmed it will be coming soon to Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, causing confusion regarding its PC release.
We're almost approaching one year since Supergiant Games released Hades 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the first Hades game, which launched in September 2020 for PCs and Nintendo Switch and later for PlayStation and Xbox consoles in 2021. Hades received a largely positive response upon its release, and the game's developer will follow up once Hades 2 makes its full release for PCs and consoles.
In the latest Nintendo Creator's Voice presentation, Supergiant Games provided players with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage into the development of Hades 2, bringing the forthcoming roguelike action role-playing game "to life (and afterlife)." It was during this presentation that the developer confirmed that Hades 2's 1.0 release would be landing on Nintendo Switch 2 consoles as a timed exclusive, which its initial announcement caused slight confusion for its PC release.
Supergiant Games later clarified on social media that it would be available "simultaneously" through its "Early Access platforms" on PC via Epic Games and Steam and for the original Nintendo Switch consoles. It appears that the developer will follow the same release format for Hades, meaning that a future release for PlayStation and Xbox consoles is on the cards; however, the bigger question is when the 1.0 launch for Hades 2 will occur.
