D23 Expo 2022 saw Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios, and Marvel Studios taking over the stage. The latter brought several projects to be featured in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with two Phase 4 projects, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Werewolf by Night.
New announcements and exclusive footage debuted at the Disney-themed expo with a few surprises and returns. Here are all the major movie and series announcements from the Marvel Studios D23 panel.
D23 Expo 2022 – All Marvel Movies Announced
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige presented new footage for several upcoming MCU movies, of which a few were screened behind closed doors. While this included movies that have been previously announced or confirmed, there were a few surprises in store.

After Spider-Man director Jon Watts stepped away from the project this year, Marvel Studios has found a director to take the helm in bringing Marvel's "First Family" back to the MCU. WandaVision director and producer Matt Shakman was revealed to be the film's new director, but no casting details were announced.
Captain America: New World Order
The fourth Captain America film will pick up sometime after the conclusion of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, with Sam Wilson bidding farewell to his Falcon persona and picking up Cap's shield. He will be exploring his time as the new Captain America with Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier along for the ride and a few additional characters joining the duo.

Carl Lumbly will return as Isaiah Bradley, Danny Ramirez will pick up the Falcon mantle as Joaquin Torres, and Tim Blake Nelson will mark his return as Samuel Sterns/The Leader from The Incredible Hulk. For Bucky Barnes, however, Sam won't be the only partner he'll have as he'll immediately join an ensemble that follows Captain America: New World Order.
Thunderbolts
Marvel Studios revealed concept artwork for the Thunderbolts film, which is set to conclude Phase 5 of the Multiverse Saga. The concept artwork shows a possible Thunderbolts line-up including Yelena Belova/Black Widow, John Walker/US Agent, Ava Starr/Ghost, Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, and yes, Bucky Barnes.
This ensemble will be put together by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, last seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and portrayed by Emmy winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Many have wondered if Baron Zemo will be factored in the film as a member or enemy, but we should expect more information on this project in the following months.
D23 Expo 2022 – All Marvel Series Announced
Several Marvel Studios coming to Disney+ received first looks and official trailers, which debuted at D23. Let's look at all the major series announcements from the production studio at D23 Expo 2022:
Ironheart
Following Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Riri Williams will get to explore her journey in the solo outing coming to Disney+ with no official or estimated release date revealed by Marvel Studios. Ironheart star Dominique Thorne will be joined by Alden Ehrenreich and Anthony Ramos, the latter of which will portray the villainous Parker Robins/The Hood.
Werewolf by Night
Many were perplexed at Marvel omitting Werewolf by Night from its San Diego Comic-Con line-up, but it finally made a splash at D23 Expo 2022. This Marvel Studios Special Presentation was revealed in the official trailer, draped in black and white and intense cinematography akin to a classic horror film of yesteryear.
Directed by composer Michael Giacchino and starring Gael García Bernal as Jack Russell/Werewolf by Night, this special will be casting its shadow on Disney+; Werewolf by Night will premiere on the streaming platform on 7th October 2022.
Secret Invasion
The infiltration of the Skrulls was finally revealed in the official trailer for the upcoming Secret Invasion series for Disney+. The series finds a sect of Skrulls who've shapeshifted their way for years on Earth, preparing for a hostile takeover of the planet with Nick Fury and Talos at the center of it.
While Fury won't be able to tell friend from foe, the series will see familiar allies aiding Fury and Talos and new (potentially dangerous) faces added to the fray. The show will begin streaming in 2023 and reportedly tie in with Armor Wars.
Daredevil: Born Again
In what could be one of the biggest announcements for Marvel Studios this year, Daredevil: Born Again received plenty of love at the D23 Expo. Alongside a slight update to the title card, the panel was treated to the first-time appearance of its stars, Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio, on stage.
