Marvel Snap updated its Spotlight Caches this week to prepare for the debut of John Walker/US Agent in the popular card battler game. However, a new bug discovered by players hindered the character's debut, which developer Second Dinner had temporarily disabled a feature.
Multiple players reported on social media mere minutes following the latest Spotlight Caches drops that they could not get the featured cards to appear this week. The featured Spotlight Cache cards for the week of 9th-16th April 2024 are US Agent, Mirage, and Jeff the Baby Land Shark with a Mystery Variant, which saw many unable to get either card or reported on other issues.
US Agent is supposed to be a guaranteed drop within four Spotlight Keys along with the two featured cards; however, players have reported that this isn't the case. As of writing, we have yet to use our Spotlight Keys to acquire the latest Spotlight Cache card drops, but given the multiple posts online, this bug has impacted a vast majority of players.
One player posted on the Marvel Snap subreddit that they spent four Spotlight Keys, receiving Nimrod and Dawkhawk and no Jeff the Baby Land Shark, with one comment stating that they got 2,000 Collector's Tokens after using their keys. Another Reddit post revealed one player's frustration as they used four keys, getting Mirage, Jeff, and Spider-Man 2099 variant cards and 1,000 Collector's Tokens but no US Agent after opening four caches.
According to multiple messages posted on the official Marvel Snap Discord channel, they have received the reports regarding the Spotlight cache bug, citing that they're "actively working to solve the problem" with updates to follow. "In the meanwhile, we recommend not using your Spotlight Keys until the bug has been fixed."
A Marvel Snap moderator followed this update on the Discord server, saying that the problem has been "figured out" and that possible solutions to solve the bug have been identified. While the team is "in the process of figuring out the best player experience fix," impacted players will receive "the right compensation" for the reported issue, with updates to follow in the next few days.
For the time being, we advise Marvel Snap players not to utilize their Spotlight Keys during this time as it has been disabled. We recommend players not use their Spotlight Keys currently, hoping to receive the planned compensation from the developer Second Dinner, which we'll update this page with more information and the latest updates.
