In October 2024, a few Marvel Snap content creators and community members discovered undisclosed changes to the Infinity Split, which developer Second Dinner had not communicated with its players. The developer responded with changes to the Infinity Splits, which were made in the mid-October 2024 patch update, which temporarily boosted Infinity Split rates, and the developer issued rewards to players affected by these changes.
This would only be temporary; however, as detailed in the Infinity Split rates notice, these changes would be "active" until the mid-December 2024 patch, which rolled out on 10th December 2024. The developer had recently communicated with the player base on the status of boosted Infinity Split rates, which would be reverted to their original rates in the patch notes with the Character Mastery feature set to be released in the new year.
However, these plans have changed as Second Dinner halted reverting the boosted Infinity Split rates, which they announced in a recent social media post. These boosted rates are to remain "active" for a week until 17th December 2024 before reverting in an OTA or patch update, meaning Snappers can continue splitting their cards for some fantastic backgrounds and finishes.
The developer had stated that the reason behind extending the boosted Infinity Splits rates by one week is "to ensure the updated Split rates don't cause any bugs alongside the new patch we'll be testing them behind the scenes for the next week." But with the Character Mastery feature set to debut next year, as the developer has yet to finalize an official release date as of writing, Snappers can expect some incoming changes for Infinity Splits with the feature's release.
As stated in the recent patch notes, "When Character Mastery debuts, Split rates will again be changing alongside a slew of updates to how you can better customize your favorite cards, including many new Finishes and Flares." With Character Mastery enabling Snappers to acquire cosmetics for their favorite cards, this progress contributes to some rewards tracker that allows them to unlock new Splits for these cards and exclusive rewards.
