The final week of the current season of Marvel Snap has gone live, overlapping with the in-game rerun of the High Voltage event, as Snappers must defeat their opponents in three turns to gain Volts and unlock rewards through the Reward Tracker. With one of the season's latest cards, the First Ghost Rider, one of its rewards, another card looks to guide Snappers whilst in battle, marking the debut of the Egyptian God of the Moon and Vengeance, Khonshu.

Khonshu's arrival to the card battler has excited fans of the Moon Knight comics and Discard Snappers, as his card abilities provide great utility to an already powerful deck archetype. This guide peers into this Egyptian God by examining his card abilities to identify his key synergies and notable counters, outline his card acquisition, and provide three interesting Discard-themed decks where Khonshu beams his guiding lunar light in Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Khonshu Card Abilities Explained

The Egyptian God of the Moon and Vengeance, or the "Protector of Travelers in the Night," Khonshu has gained popularity over the last few years due to his live-action debut in Marvel Studio's Moon Knight series. Likewise, it's this association dating back to Marvel Comics that this Celestial lunar god is widely known for as Marc Spector is Khonshu's modern-day avatar, and his Fist of Vengeance, who continues Khonshu's work, guided by his will, and as such, Khonshu has found his way to Marvel Snap.

As for what Khonshu is truly capable of in Marvel Snap, he's a Series 5 card release with a base stat line of six Cost and eight Power, which, each time he's discarded, he returns to Snapper's hand in its next phase. There are two states to Khonshu, which increases his Power, but when played, he has an On Reveal ability to "resurrect a card you discarded to another location with its Power set to 5, 8, or 12."

Naturally, Khonshu synergizes well with the Discard archetype and cards like Moon Knight and Lady Sif, guaranteeing they will target Khonshu. Blade, Corvus Glaive, and M.O.D.O.K. are other notable cards that can be used to discard Khonshu and, Kamar-Taj, and Sokovia locations. However, if its power is set to 12 after reaching its final phase, it can be countered by Shang-Chi and other strong counters like Goose, Cosmo, and Professor X.

Khonshu is available to acquire through the Spotlight Caches system, where Snappers can spend Spotlight Keys to get the card, as well as other featured Spotlight variants. Alternatively, the base card can be purchased from the Token Shop during its release week for 6,000 Collector's Tokens for Discard Snappers to add Khonshu to their Collection.

Best Marvel Snap Khonshu Decks: The Stature Moon God

Revive one of the Discard archetype's less-played decks, the Stature Discard, but adding a new disruptor into the mix! (Picture: Second Dinner / Untapped.gg)

Let's begin with a Discard hybrid deck that includes a Discard shell with a few flexible cards intended to disrupt their opponent's play line. This deck also consists of a few Discard cards that aren't widely played, like Black Bolt, due to it being a five-Cost card, which means Stature is also included to keep the Samurai/Stature package together.

Our first spotlight Khonshu deck from Marvel Snap content creator DenHearthstone focuses on disrupting their opponent's side of the board by including The Hood and Viper, and Black Bolt to discard their opponent's lowest cost card to reduce Stature's cost. Nico Minoru will add flexibility to this deck through one of its Spells, whether changing a location or giving power to itself or another card.

Moon Knight is also included in discarding another opponent's card, which also discards theirs, which may target Swarm, Gorr the God Butcher, and Khonshu. Whichever card gets discarded by Moon Knight can be resurrected by The First Ghost Rider or Khonshu, but if Snappers are unsuccessful in getting The First Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider or Hela can be factored into the deck.

Best Marvel Snap Khonshu Decks: Khonshu The Undying

What happens when all three cards with the ability to resurect cards to the board? Give this deck a spin to find out... (Picture: Second Dinner / Untapped.gg)

Khonshu's card abilities are closely similar to Apocalypse; however, with limitations, as he needs to be discarded twice to gain his max power of 12 before being played to resurrect a discarded card and set its Power to Khonshu's current power value. But if the priority is not to have Khonshu reach its max power but to resurrect a card to another location, Khonshu has really great utility, especially for those looking for an alternative card to Hela, which Ghost Rider can also consider.

But what if the purpose is to resurrect as many cards as possible? This spotlighted deck from Marvel Snap content creator ReZ Snapper answers that question; this deck focuses on discarding cards before they can be resurrected with The First Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider, Hela, and Khonshu.

This deck includes Moon Knight, Lady Sif, and M.O.D.O.K. to discard cards from their hand, which, once played, will give Miek +1 Power for each card discarded (but Morbius can be swapped in if they don't have Miek). Some potential targets to discard include Scorn, Iron Man, Gorr the God Butcher, and Khonshu, in which they'll also have Magik to give them more time to set up plays, and they can play The First Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider, Hela, and Khonshu to bring back all the discarded cards to the board.

Best Marvel Snap Khonshu Decks: Discard By Midnight

Try your hand with a new twist to the classic Dracula Discard deck, including Khonshu, but sadly, no Apocalypse. (Picture: Second Dinner / Untapped.gg)

Alternatively, they can set up locations by discarding cards while generating power for key cards like Scorn, Morbius, and The Collector. The omission of Apocalypse means that Snappers will have to be extremely careful of when to play M.O.D.O.K. in case they accidentally discard Khonshu after reaching his final phase, meaning that he won't be a viable target for Dracula.

This new iteration of the Dracula Discard deck from Marvel Snap content creator ddrewsky may be without Apocalypse, but it includes Khonshu and Proxima Midnight, which could also be a great target for Dracula. They'll need to set up their plays for Dracula, ensuring it has the lowest location for Proxima to jump to Drac's location as it has the lowest power.

This deck features Blade, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Lady Sif, and M.O.D.O.K. to discard Scorn, Swarm, Proxima Midnight, and Khonshu; the latter must be discarded twice to reach the final stage. This helps generate power for Morbius and The Collector, as Morbius will gain power once either Proxima or Khonshu is discarded at the end of the game.
