Marvel Snap's March 2025 season was unveiled in the recent Developer Update video, which is themed on the Avengers 1,000,000 BC ensemble, which appeared in several issues of Marvel Comics. Also known as the "Prehistoric Avengers," the latest Marvel Snap season adds a few notable members to the game, including the Celestial Eson.
Eson is already a member of the cosmic ensemble, the Celestials, alongside Arishem; the Celestials had crossed paths with the "Prehistoric Avengers" during the group's comic run, but is Eson's friend or foe? This guide looks at the latest card arrival by highlighting its card ability and mechanics, looks at its best synergies and counters, and provides three unique decks to include Eson in Marvel Snap.
Marvel Snap Eson Card Abilities Explained
Another all-mighty cosmic being joins Marvel Snap in the brand new season for March 2025, the "Prehistoric Avengers." While Marvel Snap hosted the Eternals during The Celestials’ Finest season in June 2024, another Celestial joined the ranks as Eson the Searcher arrived at the card battler game this month.
At its release, the Celestial Eson launched as a six Cost and ten Power card with a unique ability that, once in play, will place a created card from their hand to its location. Based on its card ability and mechanics alone, Eson will likely synergize well within decks that rely on card generation, including Arishem, Devil Dinosaur, S.H.I.E.L.D., and Ramp deck archetypes.
Additionally, The Collector and Victoria Hand will be synergistic cards to be factored within these decks to gain more value from Eson. With Eson, the main goal is to generate high-value cards, so cards like Valentina, Agent Coulson, and Nick Fury are likely better considerations for decks over Maria Hill and Agent 13.
If Eson is the card to seek out and add to their Collection, Eson can be obtained through the Spotlight Caches system by spending Spotlight Keys during its release week. Alternatively, Snappers can spend 6,000 Collector's Tokens by visiting the Token Shop in-game and purchasing the base card directly.
Best Marvel Snap Eson Decks: Celestials Rule!
For our Eson guide, we'll look at three different yet key synergistic decks for this newly arriving card. This first of these deck archetypes is Eson's strongest, being Arishem decks, as by default, Arishem shuffles 12 random cards to their deck and gains +1 Max Energy on the third turn, which, with Quinjet's inclusion, Arishem and Eson are a powerful combination.
However, Arishem can be countered by Ronan and Darkhawk decks and Professor X and Cassandra Nova, especially in the case of Grandmaster or Absorbing Man being played into Cassandra Nova. Ideally, Snappers will still need to ramp out Eson for his ability to trigger, which is the focal point of this Celestial deck from Marvel Snap content creator dddrewsky, which pairs Eson with Arishem and Quinjet into a beast of a package but to help ramp out Eson, Wiccan is included (which alternatively, Hope Summers or Luna Snow can be slotted if they don't have Wiccan).
As it's likely that Wiccan can be in play by Turn 3 as they'll gain +1 Max Energy on that turn from Arishem, they'll have to ensure they spend all the Energy in previous turns to gain the bonus Energy from Wiccan, meaning playing Quinjet, Cable and a combination of any cards shuffled into their deck that enters their hand. Once they have the bonus Energy from Wiccan and Arishem, they will be able to play Eson much sooner while generating more high-value cards with Agent Coulson and Nick Fury while having access to tech cards like Shadow King, Enchantress, and Alioth to counter their opponents.
Best Marvel Snap Eson Decks: Prehistoric Dino Power!
Devil Dinosaur is another great synergy for Eson and quite budget-friendly for free-to-play (F2P) Snappers in light of the recent Series Drop, which a card or two may be more appealing to acquire alongside Eson. Unlike the previous spotlighted deck centered around Arishem, this deck's focal card is Moon Girl, which duplicates their hand once played and yes, Quinjet is also included.
This dino-charged deck from Marvel Snap content creator ReZ Snapper features cards that tie in with the Devil Dinosaur/Moon Girl/Quinjet package. Firstly, they'll have The Collector to gain Power for every card that enters their hand from other means except the deck and begin adding Power by drawing cards from their opponents with Cable.
They'll have Magik to extend the game by an extra turn while any unspent Energy will add Power to Sunspot and discount She-Hulk, which is a great target to duplicate with Moon Girl. They'll have Elsa Bloodstone to add Power to a card that fills their location while adding Power to The Collector and Devil Dinosaur with Nick Fury until the card is in play and eventually Eson on the last turn.
Best Marvel Snap Eson Decks: Hello, Motto!
Lastly, a Ramp-styled deck works best with Eson to allow Snappers to play any high-cost cards earlier, including Eson, but it will require energy generation cards to make this possible. Currently, in Marvel Snap, there are a handful of cards that give Snappers Energy outside of Arishem, which includes Wiccan, Hope Summers, Luna Snow, Psylocke, and Electro, to name a few, the latter will restrict them to playing one card per turn.
This can be more achievable following Agamotto's release, which includes an Arcana skill card, the Bolts of Balthaak, which gives Snappers +4 energy on the next turn before the card gets banished. As such, we'll be looking towards an Agamotto-centric deck from Marvel Snap content creator Regis Killbin; which this deck also includes Electro and Luna Snow, but we advise swapping Electro for Wiccan, Hope Summers, or a card generator like Agent Coulson or Nick Fury.
If Snappers don't get either Electro or Luna Snow in their hand, they can play Wave to cheat out Eson two turns earlier before it's played, allowing the card to place created cards at its location. With Quinjet in the mix once more, Iron Patriot, Valentina, and Agamotto will add created cards to their hand and deck, drawn by Eson, which they have Blink to swap out a card in-play and Red Hulk and Magneto to swing location priority in the favor once the Bolts of Balthaak has been played and banished.
