The weekend has been rather active for Marvel Rivals developer NetEase Games despite the recent anti-corruption investigation that has garnered global attention, which saw nine employees arrested and subsequently fired. While this latest incident may have cast a shadow over the developer, it appears to be business as usual as several more announcements for the superhero team-based PvP shooter were made.
One of the biggest announcements made over the weekend was the confirmation of the next playable character, and yes, it was indeed the Fist of Khonshu, Moon Knight. The character has been rumored for weeks after he appeared in the closing seconds of Psylocke's character reveal trailer, in which Moon Knight is confirmed to be a Duelist character.
Moon Knight's inclusion to the growing roster has made him the 27th hero to be added to Marvel Rivals and will be available for free when it launches for consoles and PCs on 6th December 2024. The playable character is also now the 13th Duelist character added after Psylocke's announcement, and recently, IGN published exclusive gameplay footage video for the latest hero, which has teased who's next to be joining Marvel Rivals.
This was first reported by notable contributor Miller Ross, who posted to his Twitter account on 9th November 2024 that the next hero possibly joining the roster was revealed in Moon Knight's character gameplay video: one who's taking aim at his targets. Accompanied by the caption, "666 strikes again!" he revealed that the rumored next playable character who appeared in the Kill Feed for the IGN Moon Knight gameplay video is Clint Barton / Hawkeye, who may be announced in the coming weeks or days.
While we're less than a month away from Marvel Rivals' global launch, NetEase Games also announced that Moon Knight will have an exclusive skin waiting for players at launch in December 2024. The "Mister Knight" Moon Knight skin was revealed shortly after its official announcement; the skin is based on the aforementioned "Mister Knight" alter's appearance that appeared in Moon Knight (2014) #1, which was also the inspiration for the character's appearance in Marvel Studios' Moon Knight series in 2022.
