The Marvel Rivals Global Countdown continues to count towards its global launch for consoles and PCs on 6th December 2024, which Day 19 featured the "half-human and half-Atlantean," Namor the Sub-Mariner. According to developer NetEase Games, the playable hero and all previously announced characters, including Clint Barton / Hawkeye, will be unlocked and free-to-play (F2P) at launch.

The latest daily news announcement coincided with Hawkeye's character reveal, in which Namor gets to flood the battlegrounds across the Multiverse with a new cosmetic skin. Like previously announced cosmetic skins, the developer was inspired by a recent comic media appearance featuring the "half-human and half-Atlantean" for players to acquire at launch.

The Duelist-classed hero Namor is the latest playable character spotlighted in the latest daily news announcement. This included a new Rivals Assemble video for the character and the reveal of a brand new cosmetic skin based on a popular Marvel property, which, for Namor, NetEase Games looked to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for inspiration.

The official Marvel Rivals social media accounts unveiled a new cosmetic skin for Namor based on the character's MCU debut in the 2022 Marvel Studios film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The description accompanying the skin reveal reads, "Confronting anyone who stands in his way, the King of Talokan protects his home and people by any means necessary," adding that "he'll do what it takes to prove himself a great leader, and he's not afraid to show it..."

A recent IGN interview with the game's narrative designer revealed that when "planning skins," they've designed "according to different categories," of which Namor's skin is categorized under the MCU category, which they've worked in tandem with Marvel Studios. While it's unclear how players will be able to acquire all the previously announced cosmetic skins, including Namor's "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" skin, we'll update players once an official confirmation has been made.
