Marvel Rivals debuted a brand new cinematic trailer during the Marvel Games Showcase at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. The superhero team-based PvP shooter is currently under Closed Beta Test for consoles and PC, for which developer NetEase Games showed off a few new additions who will join the battle against a "tyrannical dictator" across the universes.

Two new playable characters and a new map are set to make their way to Marvel Rivals; however, when players can anticipate these new arrivals has yet to be confirmed. The developers were on hand at their SDCC booth, where they detailed the development process and showed off an artwork book featuring several characters before rolling out the red carpet by announcing the voice cast for the game.

Heroes and villains from countless universes will finally go toe-to-toe with Dr. Victor von Doom, or Doctor Doom was finally unveiled, for which two versions of this iconic supervillain will be integral to Marvel Rivals' story. This was officially confirmed in a new cinematic trailer debuting during the Marvel Games Showcase on 25th July 2024, for which the trailer's description alludes to the game's main story, which they'll be facing against "the most dangerous Super Villains they've ever encountered."

The game will welcome a few more heroes to the battlefield, including the God of Thunder, Thor, and Jeff the Baby Land Shark, as new playable characters. According to content creator Cozy, who attended the Marvel Games Showcase at SDCC 2024, they'll be coming to Marvel Rivals in the next Closed Beta Test patch, reportedly scheduled on 27th July 2024.

Alongside Thor and Jeff the Baby Land Shark's arrival to Marvel Rivals, a new playable map was revealed in the cinematic trailer for which the Sanctum Sanctorum or the New York Sanctum was announced. As the residence of Doctor Stange, this was shown during a battle between Magik and Iron Man, but there is no word as to whether the map will be added to the game in the aforementioned patch update.

The Closed Beta Test for Marvel Rivals is underway for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam until 5th August 2024, when access codes and keys have been distributed. Players can still gain access by acquiring access through Twitch Drops until 28th July 2024 for their preferred platform, so get them before they're gone!
