As arguably one of, if not the best, game to release this year, God of War Ragnarok is rocking the gaming world on PS4 and PS5. It is also huge, taking over 25 hours to complete the main story and almost double that to see everything. However, some players want even more Kratos, which is why many wonder if God of War Ragnarok has a New Game Plus (NG+) mode at launch.
This article answers that question and explains how you will be able to unlock an NG+ mode for God of War Ragnarok and when you can expect it to release, so let's get started...boy!
Update on 2 May 2023: We've updated this article to reflect the latest information about an upcoming New Game Plus mode for God of War Ragnarok.
Yes, it was released in April 2023 and you can read all about it here.
God of War Ragnarok New Game Plus Mode?
At the time of writing, God of War Ragnarok does not have a New Game Plus mode. While you can start a new game at a higher difficulty level, for example, there's no carry-over of progress and no NG+ to sink your blades into.
This, however, is likely to change in the future, going by what Sony Santa Monica Studio did with God of War 2018.
Will God of War Ragnarok Get NG+ Mode?
While nothing has been confirmed just yet, going by God of War 2018's updates, we might see the NG+ mode for Ragnarok in early 2023. The 2018 title offered a wealth of new items in NG+ mode and new customization options with more powerful versions of existing armors, talismans, and enchantments.
There was also the addition of the Realm Tears, different enemy movements/attacks, and some excellent additional content in its NG+ mode.
We do expect the same from God of War Ragnarok, and since the 2018 title took four months from launch to add a New Game Plus mode, we expect Ragnarok to get one in the first quarter of 2023. Remember, the developers have confirmed a NG+ mode for God of War Ragnarok will be released.
How to Unlock NG+ Mode in GoW Ragnarok
We expect that players can easily unlock God of War Ragnarok's New Game Plus mode simply by completing the game's story once on any difficulty, as it was with the 2018 title. We will update you if additional requirements or specific difficulty level completions are required.
So there you have everything we know so far about God of War Ragnarok's New Game Plus mode. We will endeavor to update this article once more information becomes available.
