A recent leak by data miners has gotten Fortnite fans in a frenzy. Many fans are convinced that a new "open-world fantasy RPG mode" is imminent after a mysterious image representing potential artwork for the game mode surfaced on social media. Data miners claim that if their speculations are correct, the new game mode will "smash" the boundaries of the battle royale genre and we concur!
Fortnite Season 7 leaks point towards an open-world RPG spinoff
On the 10th of August, reliable Fortnite data miner, iFireMonkey, posted an image on Twitter and revealed that there was a recent change in the Fortnite game code, particularly with the "Saturn_Test" file.

In the image, there were four characters each wielding weapons to seemingly counter an incoming attack. It's hard to tell what this might mean although many fans seem to speculate that this could hint at an upcoming Fortnite open-world RPG spinoff game mode.
These speculations follow on from an experimental concept uncovered in the lawsuit between Epic Games and Apple Inc, in which an “open-world simulation sandbox mode” was referenced.
This was later referenced by another prominent data miner, HYPEX, who tweeted: "According to Epic Games' Stipulated Exhibits Documents, the map that I tweeted about a week ago is apparently for an Open World Simulation Sandbox Mode!"

Following the image posted by iFireMonkey, HYPEX said that "all of these hints towards the open-world game mode they talked about in the Apple lawsuit but we'll have to wait and see". He did, however, also speculate that the leak could hint at new weapons coming to the game.
We now have 2 teasers, we can see:

- Possible new weapons?
- Arrow in the back
- A giant monkey in the background
- Temple POIs/Landmarks in the back

At this moment in time, the possibilities are endless, given that all we have to go off on is a leaked image.
It is also possible that nothing might come from this, so we'll have to wait and see whether further information surfaces regarding these speculations.
