It seems the launch of Fortnite Season 5 has not gone as smooth as Epic would have wanted, as a huge portion of the player base is reporting an issue with loading times on Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
Via the Fortnite Status Twitter account, Epic revealed they are currently looking into this issue in hopes of finding a swift solution to the problem.

Fortnite Season 5: Long loading times on Xbox and PlayStation
Many console users, via social media, have reported these extremely painful loading times as they try to enjoy Season 5 of Fortnite.
Omg im actually about to get mad @FortniteGame @FortniteStatus every single game i get infinite loading screen and I try to avoid it by readying up in game and it doesn't even work I actually wanna play the game and now I barely can plus the game takes 5 times as long to load

At the moment, there is no current fix other than waiting patiently for the game to let you back into a lobby.
