How to get a Jetpack in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2

The Jetpack has been in and out of Fortnite multiple times, and in the latest list of unvaulted items, the rocket backpack makes a return within Chapter 3 Season 2. However, it may take some extra effort to find one beyond opening chests, rare or not.

Jetpacks are one of the few items, similar to exotic weapons, that players can search a guaranteed area for. This makes finding the Jetpacks easier, but the odds of them being contested are far higher. Luckily, there are a handful of locations that can be used to get the rockets.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 - How to get the Jetpack

In Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2, Jetpacks are a Legendary item due to the power of the item at a base. These aren't in the floor or chest loot pool though, so most of the time, they need to be picked up. To find these, you'll need to look toward the IO blimps that are scattered around the map.

With the latest update in which the Jetpack was unvaulted, the location of the IO blimps has shifted a bit. In total, there are five blimps on the Fortnite map after the one located at the Daily Bugle crashed down and was destroyed. The full list of locations includes Tilted Towers, Command Cavern, Rocky Reels, Coney Crossroads, and Condo Canyon.

When you enter any of these areas, you'll be able to see the blimps from far away. They typically have ziplines directly under the blimps, or diagonal lines that stretch from specific buildings in the zone. Either way, you'll need to reach the blimp itself.

Inside, the best bet is to search the walls on the edges of the blimp. There will be at least one Jetpack set on the wall ready for someone to claim. If another player gets it, you can eliminate them and pick it up yourself as loot.

In the south of the map at the Synapse Station, you can also purchase the Jetpack from the NPC there. This will cost 580 gold bars but is an easier guarantee.

How to use the Jetpack in Fortnite

When you get this item in Fortnite, you'll need an open spot in your inventory in order to use it. But you won't have to actively have it in your hands.

With the Jetpack equipped, you can aim to float and stay in the air. Holding the jump button is another option for floating while you fight.
